On the island of Djerba, most of the men spend 11 months of the year away from home in Tunis, where they work and send money home to support the wives and children they leave behind. Aicha (Rabiaa Ben Abdallah) has told her husband Said (Ezzedine lsGennoun) that she wants to live with him in Tunis. However, they have two teenage daughters, Meriem (Ghalia Ben Ali) and Emma (Hend Sabry), and he will allow Aicha to join him only under the condition that she bears him a son. Aicha weaves rugs in her spare time to help pay for her passage to Tunis, while together with her friends fend off the depression and desperate loneliness of their marriages. Meanwhile, Meriem, who is newly married, is dealing with her anxieties about sex, while her sister Emma is having an affair with one of the few married men on the island.

على جزيرة جربة يقضي أغلب الرجال 11 شهرًا من العام بعيدًا عن منازلهم في تونس حيث يكون طوال العام ويرسلون النقود لزوجاتهم وابنائهم. عائشة (رابية بن عبدالله) أخبرت زوجها سعيد (عزالدين جنون) أنها ترغب في العيش معه في تونس، يوافق سعيد على ذلك ولكنه يشترط عليها أن تحمل له ولدًا. يحظى سعيد وعائشة بابنتين في سن المراهقة هما مريم (غاليا بن علي) وإيما (هند صبري). تقوم عائشة بغزل السجاجيد في وقت فراغها لتجمع نفقات الإنتقال لتونس، بينما تحاول هي وصديقاتها التغلب على الإحباط والوحدة في حياتهن الزوجية. في الوقت نفسه، تحاول ابنتها مريم التي تزوجت حديثًا التأقلم مع مساورها حيال علاقتها الحميمة مع زوجها، بينما شقيقتها إيما تقيم علاقة مع أحد الرجال القليلين المتزوجين المقيمين على الجزيرة.
