Biography
Hend Sabry had her acting debut at the age of fourteen in the Tunisian production Silence of the Palaces (Samt al Qosoor) by director Moufida Tlatli in 1994, the movie that was listed after 19 years from its release in Dubai International Film Festival's 100 Most Important Arab Films list. Following this, Hend starred in several Tunisian productions until she drew the attention of director Inas Al Degheidy who introduced her to the Egyptian cinema through A Teenager's Diary (Muzakirat Murahiqua) in 2002. Her role in the film gave her immediate stardom across the Arab world and in a short span of time she became one of the most prominent Tunisian actresses in Egypt and the Arab world.
Hend played remarkable roles in a number of Egyptian films, most significant of which are: A Citizen, a Detective, and a Thief (Mowaten we Mokhber we Haramy) 2002, Downtown Girls (Banat West El Balad) 2005 and Ibrahim El Abyad (2009). In 2006, she participated in The Yacoubian Building (Oumaret Yacoubian) co-starring with an extensive number of Egypt's major super stars. Hend's most recently she established her production house Salam PROD through which she co-produced Zahret Halab (The Flower of Aleppo) that is shot between Lebanon and Tunisia. She also starred in the film.
Hend Sabry’s latest cinematic works is the historical film Al Kinz (The Treasure) by director Sherif Arafa that is scheduled to release in 2017. She also took part in the short Jordanian-German film The Parrot, one of the film projects funded by the Royal Film Commission-Jordan and German Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation. Sabry donated her entire payment for the support of Syrian refugees in the Arab region.
Hend received more than 25 awards in appreciation of her achievements as an actress including five awards for her astounding embodiment of an HIV positive woman who suffers because of her affliction from her society in Asmaa (2011). She also won awards on her roles in films such as Arayes Al Teen (Clay Dolls), Ahla El Awkat (Best of Times), Banat West El Balad (Downtown Girls), the short Sabah elFol (Rise and Shine), Genenit El Asmak (The Aquarium), The Island2 (El Gezira2), and the TV comedy Ayiza Atgawez (I Want to Get Married), which tackles the problem of spinsterhood in the Egyptian society, in a comedic atmosphere. The Advisory Committee of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) decided to award Hend Sabry the Faten Hamama Award for Excellence at the opening ceremony of the 2017 edition. This award is given according to the initiative of the family of late star Faten Hamama for the stars who have contributed to the advancement of cinema.
In Ramadan 2017, the Tunisian star Hend Sabry won the hearts of the Arab audiences through her astounding performance in Halawat Al Dounia of a woman who is diagnosed with cancer shortly before her wedding, embarking on a journey to reshape her life where she unexpectedly falls in love. Since its premiere, Halawet Al Dounia received wide acclaim, especially between Cancer patients that was exemplified in the appearance of hashtags of Hend Sabry and Halawat Al Dounia amongst the top trending hashtags on Twitter; as the series ranked the third and Sabry ranked the seventh on the list.
Sabry has under her belt several TV series that have enjoyed great success such as; the TV drama hit Embratoryat Meen? That was well-received during its premiere in Ramadan 2014. The social comedy traces the social and moral changes within the Egyptian community after the January 25 Revolution in 2011. Previously, she presented the TV smash hit Vertigo, which premiered in Ramadan 2012.

Earlier in the same year, the International Arab Film Festival in Gabès selected the Tunisian actress as the Honorary President of the festival. In 2012, Sabry took part in the 2nd TROPFEST Arabia, the world's largest short film festival, as the festival's co-director. In the same year, the renowned actress headed the Feature Narrative Jury at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. Most recently in 2016, Sabry rejoined the International Arab Film Festival in Gabès as its Honorary President and was selected as the Arab world brand ambassador for the Swiss luxury watches manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen. Hend is also the first woman from the Maghreb region to be the face of the Garnier brand in the Arab world.
Tunisian actress Hend Sabry has been active in social and humanitarian work. Since 2009, she has been working closely with the UN World Food Programme to raise awareness about hunger in the region. In 2010, Sabry had officially become a WFP Regional Ambassador against Hunger. In 2015, she delivered an inspirational speech about her mother at TEDx Cairo Women, which was held at the American University in Cairo.
Hend is also one of the most prominent four women who have contributed in the Facebook campaign inspired by the Arab spring titled "The Uprising of Women in the Arab World" which promotes gender equality in accordance with the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and calls for freedom, independence and security for Arab women. Sabry has been active as part of several campaigns, such as the anti-terrorism campaign, the tourism campaigns in Egypt and Tunisia, in addition to raising funds for the establishment of the first cancer hospital in upper Egypt.
Honoring her humanitarian efforts and artistic achievements, Tunisian actress Hend Sabry was included in the CEO Middle East magazine's List of the World's Top 100 Most Powerful Arab Women in 2013. The list included a number of prominent Arab women who have many achievements in different fields, such as politics, culture and social development. France's Ministry of Culture also granted her the honorary title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) in 2014. The currently Cairo-based actress has obtained a license in Law at the Faculty of Law of Tunis in 2001. Later in 2004, she completed her masters in Law Intellectual Property and Copyright.

انطلقت هند صبري سينمائياً لأول مرة عندما كانت في الرابعة عشر من عمرها في الفيلم التونسي صمت القصور للمخرجة مفيدة التلاتلي عام 1994 والذي تم اختياره بعد 19 عاماً ضمن قائمة مهرجان دبي السينمائي لأهم 100 فيلم عربي. ثم توالت أدوارها في عدد من الأفلام التونسية إلى أن جذبت هند انتباه المخرجة المصرية إيناس الدغيدي والتي اختارتها لتلعب دور البطولة في فيلم مذكرات مراهقة في عام 2002. منحها دورها شهرة واسعة في أنحاء العالم العربي وخلال فترة قصيرة أصبحت هند صبري واحدة من أبرز الممثلات في مصر والعالم العربي.
قدمت هند أدواراً مميزة في العديد من الأفلام المصرية أبرزها مواطن ومخبر وحرامي (2002) وبنات وسط البلد (2005)، إبراهيم الأبيض (2009)، وشاركت في بطولة الفيلم الضخم عمارة يعقوبيان (2006) مع عدد من أبرز نجوم السينما المصرية، ومؤخراً أسست شركتها Salam PROD التي كان أول أعمالها المشاركة في إنتاج فيلم زهرة حلب الذي تم تصويره في تونس ولبنان، وقامت هند ببطولته أيضاً.

أحدث مسلسلات هند صبري التليفزيونية هو حلاوة الدنيا الذي عُرض في موسم رمضان 2017، وفيه قدمت دور فتاة تكتشف إصابتها بمرض السرطان قبل أيام قليلة من زواجها، وبعد امتصاص الصدمة بنفسها أولاً، تبدأ في إعادة صياغة علاقاتها الاجتماعية، وقد جذب المسلسل الكثير من الاهتمام والتعاطف لقضية مرضى ومريضات السرطان، وهو ما ظهر في تصدر اسم المسلسل لموضوعات النقاش على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.

وقد شاركت هند في العديد من المهرجانات ضمن لجان التحكيم والمناصب الإدارية والشرفية، أحدثها في
الدورة الـ45 من مهرجان روتردام السينمائي الدولي الهولندي، لتصبح هند هي أول فنانة عربية تشارك في تحكيم المسابقة الرسمية للمهرجان. وفي 2015 شاركت في لجنة تحكيم جائزة آي دبليو سي للمخرجين ضمن مهرجان دبي السينمائي الدولي، وبنفس العام تم اختيارها رئيسة شرفية للنسخة الأولى من مهرجان الدولي للفيلم العربي بقابس. وفي 2012 شاركت هند صبري في الدورة الثانية لـمهرجان تروبفيست أرابيا، الذي كان يُعد أضخم المهرجانات العالمية للأفلام القصيرة في وقتها، بوصفها المدير المشارك بالمهرجان. وفي العام نفسه تولت هند رئاسة لجنة تحكيم مسابقة الأفلام الروائية الطويلة بـمهرجان الدوحة ترايبكا السينمائي الدولي وفي 2016 تم اختيارها رئيسة شرفية لـ المهرجان الدولي للفيلم العربي بقابس للمرة الثانية وسفيرة لشركة أي دبليو سي شافهاوزن للساعات الفاخرة بالعالم العربي، كما تُعد هند أول امرأة من المغرب العربي يتم اختيارها لتصبح نجمة الحملة الإعلانية لماركة غارنييه في العالم العربي.
وتشارك هند صبري في العديد من الأنشطة الاجتماعية والإنسانية، فمنذ عام 2009 تتعاون مع برنامج الغذاء العالمي التابع للأمم المتحدة لرفع الوعي حول مشكلات الجوع في المنطقة العربية، وفي عام 2010 أختيرت رسمياً سفيرة لمكافحة الجوع في برنامج الغذاء العالمي التابع للأمم المتحدة. كما شاركت في مؤتمرTEDx Cairo Women في 2015 بخطاب شخصي عن والدتها.
كذلك تُعد هند واحدة من أبرز 4 نساء قمن بالإسهام في الترويج لحملة انتفاضة المرأة في العالم العربي على صفحات فيسبوك، وهي حركة مستوحاة من ثورات الربيع العربي وتطالب بحق المساواة بين الجنسين طبقاً للإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان الصادر من الأمم المتحدة، كما تنادي بضمان الحرية والاستقلال والأمان للنساء العربيات. وقد شاركت بعدد من الحملات الدعائية ضد الإرهاب، وأيضاً الترويج للسياحة في مصر وتونس، إضافة لحملة جمع تبرعات لصالح إقامة أول مستشفى لعلاج مرضى السرطان في صعيد مصر.
وتقديراً لجهودها الإنسانية وإنجازاتها الفنية، اختارتها مجلة CEO Middle East ضمن قائمة أقوى 100 امرأة عربية لعام 2013، حيث ضمت القائمة نخبة من النساء العربيات صاحبات بصمات مؤثرة في الثقافة والسياسة وتنمية المجتمع. كما نالت وسام الفنون والآداب برتبة فارس من وزارة الثقافة الفرنسية في نهاية عام 2014.
وقد حصلت هند على ليسانس الحقوق في كلية الحقوق التونسية عام 2001، ثم أكملت درجتها في قانون حقوق الملكية الفكرية في عام 2004، وهي الآن تعيش في القاهرة.
