Jamil, who spent some years abroad, comes back to the country, crushed and shattered. He is offered the position of an assistant librarian in the old bookstore of the young Tarek Ben Othman. Jamil is attracted by Aicha, a widow who’s fifteen years older than him, and the mother of his employer, Tarek. Being uncomfortable with the feelings she has for Jamil, Aicha decides to leave the flat located on top of the bookstore. On the other hand, Leila is Tarek’s young and rebel wife, tired of the monotony of her life in the bookstore and in the flat, she leaves her husband for a brilliant career as a singer. Tarek sinks in depression. Aicha is then forced to return to her son Tarek, and she’s reunited with Jamil and their relationship then takes a new turn.
